Named after a famous fighting bull, the Lamborghini Aventador has been hand-built in Italy since 2011. It was announced as the successor to the Murcielago, which at that time had been the company's flagship model for a decade. It went on to sell 5,000 Aventadors over the next five years, 25 per cent more than originally planned when the car was unveiled. The Aventador is powered by Lamborghini's second in-house designed V12 engine, a 6.5-litre unit nearly twice the size of the last V12 the company had built, in the mid-1960s for the 350GT. A roadster version, with two removable carbon fibre roof panels, came along in 2013 and boasted design features making it just 50kg heavier than the fixed-roof model, despite the extra reinforcement needed in the car's sills and A-pillars.

An upgraded Aventador S model came along in 2017, with the engine's power boosted from 690 to 730bhp. This, in turn, had been preceded by a couple of 'SuperVeloce' models, where weight-saving measures were taken their extreme and resulted in the original Aventador's 1,575kg weight being trimmed by about 8 per cent. The S was enhanced by the addition of permanent four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering and a modified suspension over its predecessor, while a raft of aerodynamic improvements gives it 130 per cent more downforce than the original car. A raft of special editions have come along to capitalise on the highly distinctive Aventador styling, perhaps the most startling of which is a specially-adapted model used to guide planes around the maintenance and ground areas of Bologna airport!

Scuderia had what I needed, answered all of my questions and got the part to me from Europe in only 4 days. The price was hundreds of dollars below what I could find this Maserati part for in the US, and I could only find it here through Maserati.
